Using the iPad Pro to create big color, reminiscent of stained glass.

Star Crossed

This is the start of a series of crosses. Why crosses? They just came to me so I decided that it was a theme worth exploring. The viewer of course is free to bring to it to whatever they like. But I’m not prepared to discount any religious association.

The process of learning this medium continues. I’m trying to get the gist of how all these brushes work, both individually and with each other. Thanks for stopping by. I wish I could offer you a cup of coffee. Virtual Coffee. Now there’s a terrible idea.

Influences: Type, typography, glyphs, symbols, signs, archaic writing systems, hieroglyphics, medieval scripts and illuminations, medieval stained glass, petroglyphs, molas, coloring books, Hundertwasser, Klimt, Gaudi and even crop circles. Talk about an eclectic group of influences, right? I guess they all have some things in common. There is linearity inherent to each, some geometry, pattern and concise containment. In the case of medieval illuminations, there is certainly very dense and saturated color. In the case of medieval stained glass windows, there is also very saturated color made even more intense by the fact that it is backlit, just like right here. I'll write more about this as it occurs to me.

I love to cook all the things that I grow in my garden. Of course I couldn't do that without the help of the swarms of honey bees that come MOST years. They are clearly being stressed. I read about the collapse of bee populations and that's not a good thing. Nevertheless, I will continue "farming" and baking. I'm working on recipes that use honey. As I perfect those, I will include them with the others that are posted in "Buzzworthy Honey Recipes".

I'd be remisce if I didn't mention The Plateau d'Assy as an important influence. I used to live nearby, so I visited whenever I could.
